Facebook Implements “Trending Articles”

Although social networking is prevalent among Internet surfers, constant changes are made to accommodate to their web experiences. Facebook understands this concept and although changes aren’t always universally accepted, they continue to test new ways to make its network more attractive.
The function is called “Trending Articles, “as the main page or news feed features artcles showing some relevant news or popular topics. Articles and stories will be pulled from organizations such as The Guardian, The Washington Post and The Huffington Post.

The “share” button will allows a user to deliver information to anyone within his or her network. When personally encountering this new function, I found most articles to pertain to entertainment and gossip, which isn’t surprising because most of my Facebook friends read such stories via Yahoo! News App and others. If this kind of correlation exists, it is a similar example of search engine optimization.
